Second Hurricane Matthew Relief Drive collects food and supplies for NC, SC families
After Hurricane Matthew, many people in
communities like Princeville are still in need of basic supplies.
News 13, along with iHeart Radio, Eblen Charities and the
Citizen-Times holds a second Asheville relief drive on Monday for victims of
Hurricane Matthew in North and South Carolina.
It's at the Ingles store on Tunnel Road near the Beaucatcher
Tunnel.
There was a drive at this Ingles store a couple weeks ago, and
organizers say they filled up an entire trailer with donated goods.
Both they and customers we spoke with say they're hoping for
another successful drive.
"I think it's a great thing. I think those of us who have
not been affected by the storm should help those who have, if they can,"
said Sheri Adams, an Ingles shopper.
Donors can either bring the donated items here or buy them here
and then donate them.
Donated items will be collected from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. Priority
items are:
• water
• individually wrapped snacks
• cat and dog food
• diapers
• baby formula
• cleaning products
• gloves
• batteries
• canned foods and other
non-perishable foods
Cash collected and 100 percent of supplies will be delivered to
the devastated area.
